Przyjęte przez czasopismo „Echa Przeszłości” zasady recenzowania artykułów naukowych są zgodne z wytycznymi Ministerstwa Nauki i Szkolnictwa Wyższego (2012 r.):
1. Każdy artykuł (rozprawa) jest recenzowany przez niezależnych recenzentów spoza jednostki.
2. W przypadku tekstów powstałych w języku obcym, co najmniej jeden z recenzentów jest afiliowany w instytucji zagranicznej innej niż narodowość autora pracy.
3. Recenzent wypełnia pisemnie przyjęty przez Redakcję czasopisma formularz recenzji lub też przygotowuje recenzję według własnego schematu, przy czym musi sformułować jednoznaczny wniosek odnośnie dopuszczenia artykułu do publikacji lub jego odrzucenia.
4. Zrecenzowane artykuły, rozprawy i materiały przekazywane są wraz z recenzją do autorów. Autor powinien pisemnie ustosunkować się do uwag recenzenta, określając czy całkowicie zgadza się z uwagami zawartymi w recenzji czy też przyjmuje je jedynie w pewnym zakresie, jednocześnie uzasadniając swoją decyzję, a następnie zwrócić do Redakcji tekst zrecenzowany, recenzję, nowy wydruk artykułu wraz z naniesionymi poprawkami w wersji elektronicznej.
5. Do druku zatwierdzone są tylko prace, które uzyskają pozytywną opinię recenzentów oraz redaktorów tematycznych.
6. W przypadku jednej recenzji negatywnej o przyjęciu lub odrzuceniu tekstu decyduje redaktor naczelny czasopisma w porozumieniu z redakcją.
7. Redakcja czasopisma zastrzega sobie prawo wyboru publikowanych artykułów.
W ramach zasad recenzowania uwzględnia się wymóg tzw. double-blind review process (autor i recenzenci nie znają swojej tożsamości).

Peer review procedure (valid as of 2012)
The principles for reviewing manuscripts submitted for publication to the Echa Przeszłości Journal are consistent with the guidelines of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education (2012):
1. Each manuscript (research article) is reviewed by independent reviewers from outside the authors’ institutions.
2. For manuscripts written in a foreign language, at least one of the reviewers must be affiliated in a foreign institution outside the authors’ country of origin.
3. A reviewer fills out a review form provided by the Editorial Board or prepares a review according to own plan, clearly stating the reasons why the manuscript should be accepted for publication or rejected.
4. Reviewed manuscripts, research articles and materials are returned to the authors with the review. The authors should reply in writing to the reviewer’s comments, indicating whether they agree with the reviewer’s remarks in full or in part and stating the reasons for the above. The authors submit the reviewed paper, the review and the revised version of the manuscript in electronic format to the Editorial Board.
5. Only manuscripts that have been positively evaluated by reviewers and section editors will be accepted for publication.
6. Manuscripts with one negative review will be accepted for publication at the discretion of the Editor-in-Chief and the Editorial Board.
7. The Editorial Board reserves the right to freely select manuscripts for publication.
Manuscripts submitted for publication will undergo the double-blind peer review process (the authors and the reviewers remain anonymous).
